This whiskey is beloved by bartenders, most of which frequently use this as their well rye, because of the price and intensity of flavor. This is not a sophisticated sipping whiskey. But it’s great for its price tag. Produced in the tradition of the classic Pennsylvania or “Monongahela” rye whiskeys, Rittenhouse has received much acclaim and attention over the past several years as the rye whiskey craze, and the love of classic cocktails that feature rye whiskey, lingers. Available in the standard 80° bottling or in a special Bottled-In-Bond 100° expression. notes: To be labeled as “Bottled-in-Bond” or “Bonded,” a whiskey must be the product of one distillation season and one distiller at one distillery. It must have been stored (i.e., aged) in a federally bonded warehouse under U.S. government supervision for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof (50% alcohol by volume). The bottled product’s label must identify the distillery where it was distilled and, if different, where it was bottled.
