BenRiach
BenRiach is a Speyside distillery renowned for its creative spirit, diverse cask maturation, and a richly layered range of single malt Scotch whiskies. Founded in 1898 by John Duff, BenRiach quietly distilled its character through the decades, even surviving long periods of dormancy. Its revival began in the early 2000s, when a group of independent whisky lovers saw potential in the forgotten stocks hidden in its warehouses and breathed new life into the distillery.
What sets BenRiach apart is its commitment to variety and innovation. Unusually for a Speyside distillery, BenRiach produces both peated and unpeated malts, exploring the full spectrum of flavor—from orchard fruit and honey to smoke and spice. It is also one of the few distilleries in Scotland to maintain an in-house floor maltings, a nod to its hands-on approach and respect for tradition.
BenRiach is particularly admired for its inventive use of cask types. From bourbon and sherry to port, rum, and virgin oak, its whiskies are matured in a wide array of barrels, allowing for exceptional complexity and depth. Under the guidance of Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie, BenRiach continues to evolve with a bold and imaginative range that celebrates both tradition and experimentation.
Today, BenRiach stands as a distillery that welcomes both the classic and the curious. With its vibrant house style, creative flair, and Speyside roots, it offers something distinct for every whisky lover—from the sweet and approachable to the smoky and bold. Each bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, heritage, and a touch of rebellion.
